Zeiss Medical Technology announced in a press release the launch of its Zeiss Collaborative Care browser-based software application that is designed to enable eyecare professionals to work together more seamlessly by securely sharing data, referring patients, and strengthening their professional networks.
According to the company, Zeiss Collaborative Care is delivered as an application of the Zeiss Healthcare Data Platform (HDP), which provides a secure cloud foundation. As an HDP-powered application, it offers flexible deployment for practitioners to support a wide range of clinical environments. Practices may use it as a standalone cloud solution or as a connected extension of Zeiss Forum allowing diagnostic data, images, and insights to flow from on-premises systems into secure, browser-based collaboration spaces. Zeiss Collaborative Care also integrates into existing Zeiss solutions and adheres to industry standard security requirements.
In addition, the new application allows eyecare professionals to securely exchange images, reports and patient data to obtain second opinions and foster more confident clinical decision-making; consult with peers on challenging cases to validate assessments and determine the best care pathway for patients; and communicate in real-time via chat and stay updated with email notifications.
Eyecare professionals can also send, track and prioritize referrals through a user-friendly, secure browser-based application; facilitate patient care updates between referring and receiving practitioners; and easily receive and download patient data into the eyecare professional’s system for comprehensive analysis and documentation.
According to the company, the new application also allows eyecare professionals to strengthen professional networks to improve continuity of care. This includes building stronger professional connections and trust between optometrists and ophthalmologists, and fostering an open network dedicated to better patient care; exchanging clinical knowledge and accessing peer support anytime, anywhere to enhance the eyecare professional’s practice; and collaborating within a professional network via a browser, independent of any one data management system.
Zeiss Collaborative Care will be demonstrated for the first time at the 100% Optical 2026 congress in London from February 28 to March 2, and at Vision Expo in Orlando, Florida, from March 11 to 14.
