OPD-Scan III
■ Nidek and Marco together launched an upgraded 3D wavefront system, the OPD-Scan III. Combining autorefraction/keratometry, pupil-lometry, corneal topography, optical path difference and wavefront analysis, the device conveniently packs a large range of applications into one diagnostic workstation. The system is capable of evaluating a patient's complete visual system in 10 seconds, enhancing surgery screening capabilities for LASIK and cataract patients, according to the companies.
The device features enhanced ARK function automation, WF acuity maps, a 9.0 mm measurement area, CT blue light and EMR/EHR integration.

OS2 Dietary Supplement
■ For hyperglycemics and any patient looking to protect their vision health, AmeriSciences has created OS2, a non-prescription dietary supplement composed of vitamins, minerals, carotenoids, antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids and a bioavailability enhancer.
While most antioxidant supplements target macular health, AmeriSciences says that OS2 protects the retina, cornea, lacrimal system, and micro- and macro-vascular structures of the eye. When taken daily, the gelatin capsules support the dietary needs for those at risk for oxidative stress and inflammation.

Osher Sterile Field Magnifier
■ Bausch + Lomb Storz Ophthalmics Instruments recently launched the Osher Sterile Field Magnifier, an autoclavable compact magnification tool that the manufacturer says is ideally designed for various uses in the OR. The 50 mm lens helps to load IOLs into injectors, align irrigation sleeves on the phaco or I/A tip, and inspect small surgical instrument tips.
B+L says that the stainless steel magnifier doesn't require any unconventional cleaning or sterilizing tools. The lens folds down into the instrument base for compact storage.

HR Centralis Laser Lens
■ The Volk HR Centralis Laser Lens, now being distributed by Wilson Ophthalmic, is said to offer high-level detail for posterior pole examination and focal and grid laser treatment. With 1.08x magnification, 74°/88° field of view, 0.94x laser spot and broadband coating, the lens has the capability to view the retina even through pupils as small as 4 mm, Volk says. The lens housing's reduced size makes it easier to manipulate within orbit.
While its high grade, low-dispersion glass improves resolution, the double aspheric design of the optics eliminates distortion to better Volk says, even in the periphery.
