Focus on Refraction Systems
Replace three machines with one with Tomey Corp.'s RT-6000 combination autorefractor, keratometer and corneal topographer. Its chief benefits are its compactness and cost savings. Its CCD technology allows for accurate measurements in a shortened examination time. The topographic function features height maps and Klyce statistics, contact lens fitting with fluorescein maps, automatic display of PD after both eyes are measured and comparison of the two readings.

Nidek's OPD-Scan Wavefront Plus Diagnostic System combines an autorefractor, corneal topographer and wavefront analyzer in one easy-to-use unit. The machine uses infrared slit-scanning technology to measure the eye's refractive properties from cornea to retina, using 1,440 data points to quantify its optical aberrations. The eye's non-spherocylindrical refractive errors are displayed as higher-order aberrations using Zernike polynomials and RMS indices in microns and diopters.

HUVITZ DRS-3100 SYSTEM
Veatch Ophthalmic Instruments
The Huvitz DRS-3100 Digital Refraction System from Veatch Ophthalmic Instruments includes the CDR-3100 Digital Refractor, MRK-3100 Premium
Autorefractor/keratometer, CLM-3100 Premium Auto Lensmeter and the CCP-3100 Auto Projector. All the instruments communicate with each other and transfer data automatically to the Digital Refractor. The DRS-3100 system also can network with practice management systems for a completely paperless office. The MRK-3100P and CLM-3100P also combine to form the SoulMate Package.

Canon's RK-F1 Full Auto Ref-Keratometer replaces the conventional joystick with a trackball and roller tandem that eases hand movement during manual alignment. Once the examinee's pupil is visible in the monitor, you just press the Start button to initiate measurements of refraction and keratometry. The system's measurement head covers an exceptionally wide area, thus speeding up the auto-alignment process. Its built-in printer delivers your printout faster than ever.

Welch Allyn's SureSight system is a child-friendly portable autorefractor that lets you test patients --young children as well as adults -- anytime, anywhere. You can perform objective refraction from a non-threatening 14 inches away, even through glasses and contact lenses. The unit's flashing lights and sounds engage the patient throughout the exam. No cycloplegic drugs to contend with--just fast and easy refractions.

DYNAMIC CONTOUR TONOMETER
The Pascal Dynamic Contour Tonometer from Swiss-based Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems Group eliminates the influence of corneal thickness and rigidity on IOP measurements thanks to a "SensorTip" that matches the corneal curvature. It is therefore said to counteract the reported shortcomings of the Goldmann method caused by variations in corneal thickness and other corneal properties.
The Pascal captures a dynamic reading of IOP rather than a static figure, thereby furnishing a range of short-term pressure fluctuations.

Volk's ACS BIO lenses can be sterilized quickly and safely with an in-office
EASY-TO-STERILIZE BIO LENSES
With Volk Optical's AutoClaveSterilizable (ACS) BIO lenses you get the same performance as with the company's traditional lenses but require less time to sterilize them. Your staff can safely steam-sterilize the ACS BIO lenses in-office using an autoclave, thereby saving hours compared with outsourced ETO gas sterilization.
Available in 20D and 28D powers, these lenses provide high magnification for fundus examinations and are well-suited for preoperative procedures. As with all Volk lenses, the ACS BIO lenses are made of glass for the brightest and clearest image possible.
